Boy, 6, crushed by dad's digger

A six-year-old boy is reported to have died after his father accidently drove over him in a digger on a Kent farm.

The child was playing on his family's farm when the tragedy unfolded.

Police have confirmed they were called to the home of farm labourer Bob Eastwood in Ropers Green Lane in High Halstow, Hoo at 6.30pm Wednesday.

Paramedics were called and took the boy, known as Bobby, to hospital but medics were unable to save him.

The death is not being treated as suspicious by the police.

Local councillor Phil Filmer said: "I spoke to the grandad when he came back from the hospital on Thursday morning. He was obviously very upset.

"People here are saddened by what has happened. The family have lived in the area for years. You can't really put into words what they must be going through."

An inquest has been opened and adjourned.
