MYSTERY surrounds the discovery of the bodies of a man and a woman in a house.

Police were called to the house in Mynn Crescent, Bearsted, near Maidstone, at about 9.40am on Monday and found the bodies inside.

The house was sealed off with police tape while forensic teams worked at the scene. Two small windows in the front door had been broken.

At about 3.30pm, two bodies in bags were brought out of the house on trolleys and taken away.

The man and the woman have not yet been named but are thought to have been in their 50s. The circumstances of their deaths are currently being investigated.

Police say they are not looking for anyone else in connection to the incident.

Mynn Crescent resident Jane Sackett said: "A friend of mine texted me at work and said: 'Do you know there are police near your house?'

"When I got home I could see the forensics people going in and out."

Neighbour Doreen Axford said: "There’ve been masses of police out there, big trucks and forensics in their white suits."

Another neighbour who did not want to be named said: "It’s quite frightening. It has been such a safe area and I’ve really enjoyed living here."
