Battle to control soaring power station temperatures

FIREFIGHTERS spent most of Friday spraying foam into a coal bunker at Kingsnorth Power Station.

Six crews from across Medway were called to the power plant on the Hoo Peninsula, after on site firefighters called Kent Fire and Rescue Service for help.

Crews from Strood, Hoo, Cliffe, Thameside, Grain and Medway, were sent to the site and used breathing apparatus while pumping vast quantities of foam into the bunker, in a bid to bring down soaring temperatures.
