Appeal after death crash

AN ELDERLY woman has died in hospital after a road crash near Whitstable.

The tragedy happened at about 1.45pm on Saturday between the junction of Church Lane, Seasalter, and the coastbound sliproad of the A299. Two vehicles were involved, one a Skoda Felicia Classic and the other a Ford Orion.

The woman, believed to be from Seasalter, was a passenger in the Skoda which was being driven by her husband.

A fire and rescue crew from Canterbury created a blanket of foam across the road to cover spilt fuel and used cutting equipment to free the casualties.

Kent Air Ambulance airlifted the woman and her husband to the Kent and Canterbury Hospital where she later died. The injuries received by the husband are not thought to be life-threatening.
