That is Tony Blackburn's view of Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross, as the storm surrounding the TV duo gathers into a political hurricane.

The two are facing mass media attention after playing prank calls on former Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs. Both have been suspended by the BBC as bosses investigate.

But kmfm presenter Tony has hit out at the pair's exploits, saying they had both gone too far.

In an interview with kmfm's Antony Masters, he said he was shocked at the story now gripping the headlines.

He said: "Leaving a personal message like that on someone's answerphone is not funny.

"If somebody did that with my own daughter I would be most offended by it, and I would expect them to be taken off the air immediately."

He said TV generally had gone so downmarket, with every other word an F word. The media seemed to want to know about bad role models, such as Amy Winehouse.

He added: "I used to do an over the top show in the eighties, but I knew how far to go.
