2 held over £53m Tonbridge raid

TWO men have been arrested by police on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery in the £53m Securitas raid in Tonbridge in February.

Police officers conducted dawn raids in coastal towns in the county, it has emerged.

In a statement Kent Police said: "Officers conducted six simultaneous early morning raids on homes in Whitstable, Herne Bay and Ramsgate, a business in Swalecliffe, a boxing and judo club in Herne Bay and a beach hut in Tankerton on November 9.

"During the raids at the houses in Whitstable and Ramsgate officers arrested a 26-year-old Ramsgate man and a 46-year-old Whitstable man on suspicion of conspiring to commit robbery."

Both have been bailed until February 8 next year while further enquiries are made.
