Mr Buckwell, who is based in the Canterbury area, joined the Institute for European Environmental Policy think tank as a senior fellow in 2012 and is also a former CLA policy director.

Leading farmers and academics from across the country will examine what the future may hold for the agriculture industry, with Brexit high on the agenda.

Conference chairman Andrew Robinson said: “We are now more than two years on from the Brexit vote and the level of uncertainty over the effects this could have on the farming and rural industry continues.

“The conference gives a great opportunity to listen to the views of leading farmers and industry leaders on their opinions on how to steer a path through the uncertainty.”

Mr Buckwell will be replaced as chair of the local CLA branch by Gary Walters, a farmer from Canterbury.
