Firm to axe 200 jobs

ABOUT 200 staff at a Kent cable manufacturing plant are facing unemployment in the near future, it has been announced.

AEI Cables in Crete Hall Road at Northfleet has said that operations at the plant are no longer viable and production is expected to cease in the coming months.

A 90-day consultation period is expected to begin in the the next few weeks to finalise details between the company and its staff.
