OLD and unwanted PCs are needed to help schools and charities join the computer age, free of charge.

ADM Computer Services Ltd, of Chaucer Road, Canterbury, are refurbishing equipment for supply to classrooms and charities in the area.

A dozen schools in east Kent have already benefited from the scheme. It is hoped that many more will also receive equipment, if an appeal proves successful.

Sales account manager Bob Ashtari, in charge of the appeal, explained: "If readers have any old or unused PCs available for donation, with a minimum processor speed of Pentium 3 1GHz, please contact us to arrange for a free collection.

"Our refurbishing process involves wiping any existing data from the PCs and installing a new operating system.

"The PCs are then donated to local schools and charities, which will benefit greatly from this service.

"We have provided this service for the local community for many years, but our stocks of computers for refurbishment are currently running low and we urgently need your help."

Schools and organisations in the area are guaranteed to receive quality computers from ADM, whose staff install Microsoft Windows 2000.

ADM, in business for 22 years, has a collection service available from Monday to Friday.
