THE chairman of the Fleet Trust says the group are fully behind MyFootballClub’s proposed takeover of Ebbsfleet United.

Twenty thousand members of the fans’ community website have paid £35 each to provide a £700,000 takeover pot and they will all own an equal share.

The takeover is expected to go through in the next few weeks once due diligence is completed.

Chairman Jessica McQueen said: “We gave a 45-minute presentation about what we’d found out from the Ebbsfleet directors and from Will Brooks from MyFootballClub. In that time we gave the fans as many facts as we could.”

The following day a statement on the trust’s website read: “Following a debate after the Fleet Trust AGM regarding the proposed takeover of Ebbsfleet United by MyFootballClub, the members of the Fleet Trust voted unanimously to support the proposal.”

Mrs McQueen believes the long-term future of the club could be secured if the deal goes through.

She added: “Nothing in football is forever but so far an extra 5,000 people have gone and paid since the announcement was made.

“Some people have pledged for three years and are in it for the long haul.

“There were a lot of new fans at the ground on Saturday and one chap flew in from America.”
