Police are appealing for help to trace a vital witness to a fatal road traffic collision in North Kent.

They would like to speak with the driver of a small silver vehicle, believed to have been following the car which collided with pedestrian Josh Callaghan in the Overcliffe area of London Road, Gravesend.

Sixteen-year-old Josh, from Canon Road, Bromley, was walking along the pavement with his father at around 4pm on Saturday, January 24 when the incident happened. He was taken to hospital but died as a result of his injuries.

Also involved in the collision was a maroon-coloured Vauxhall Vectra. The driver, who is from Rochester, has now been discharged from hospital.

Sgt Glen Braidwood from Kent Police’s serious crash investigation unit is investigating the incident. He said: “We have information that a small silver car was following the Vauxhall just before the collision. It is likely that the driver will have vital information which will help us piece together exactly what happened in the moments leading up to this tragic incident. I would urge them to get in touch as soon as possible.”

If you were that driver, or have information which may help police, call the serious collision witness appeal line on 01622 798538 or Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555111.
