Severe delays in Gravesend this morning.

There are severe delays in Gravesend town centre this morning.

Traffic is queuing around the one-way system.

It is thought it is due to roadworks by the clock tower in Milton Road. There have been some delays since they began but this morning, the queue was as far back as Bath Street.

Arriva Kent tweeted that services 480/490, 481 and 190 were all severely delayed due to the temporary traffic lights.

The work is being carried out by Southern Gas Networks and, according to Kent County Council's website, could go on until August 12.

Motorists were also told to expect delays in Lower Road, Shorne.

It was partially blocked at the junction with Green Farm Lane due to an accident and oil spillage just before 8.30am. Kent Police attended as did someone from Kent County Council, who are responsible for highways.

By 9.15am, there were still queues but traffic was starting to ease.
