Local elections and voting in the Alternate Vote referendum get under way tomorrow, with the counts starting at 10pm.

All 44 seats in all 18 wards are being contested in Gravesham borough, where Labour is hoping it can take back control from the Conservatives. There is also an election in Cobham Parish Council's Sole Street ward. The other parish elections are uncontested.

The borough and parish votes are being counted on the night.

In Dartford, all 44 seats are being contested on the borough council. There are also town council and parish council elections, which are being counted overnight.

In both areas, the parliamentary voting system referendum will be counted on Friday afternoon from 4pm.
