A Gravesham council van has been given a parking ticket by one of its own wardens.

The vehicle, which was parked on the pavement in Queen Street, Gravesend, was ticketed by a civil enforcement officer around 11am this morning.

The council said the vehicle had been parked there by an employee, who was carrying out repairs nearby and therefore unloading.

Because he was not with the van, the ticket was issued.

A spokesman for Gravesham council said: "We do not treat our vehicles differently to anyone else’s. We do not discriminate at all.

"His manager will contact the council and the ticket will be cancelled just as it would be if it were anybody else loading.

"All vehicles are treated exactly the same. Nobody did anything wrong.

"This is not something which happens every day but it does happen.

"If the driver had been at the vehicle the attendant would not have issued the ticket."
