Neil Cugley has cooled title talk at Folkestone.

Invicta are desperate to go up automatically after three years of Ryman League, Division 1 South play-off disappointment.

But boss Cugley said: “To say we’re going to win the league just puts pressure on players, fans, everyone.

“I’d love to win it and I’m not saying we won’t but our aim is to get to the play-offs and hopefully win them for once.

“It’s hard for one team to say they’re going to win the league because you never know who’s got money.

“Teams you don’t think will do well suddenly blow everyone away.

“I’ve not heard any rumours yet but there’s a couple of clubs with plastic pitches (Whyteleafe and Worthing) which might bring revenue in for them to go and strengthen.”

Invicta lost 3-0 to Gillingham in their opening pre-season friendly last week.

They won 4-2 at Deal on Tuesday night and host National League South Dartford at the Fullicks Stadium on Saturday (3pm).
