Cyclist dies after incident on Sandgate Hill in Folkestone

A man who came off his bicycle has died, police have confirmed.

A massive emergency service response was triggered following reports of the incident in Folkestone this morning.

The air ambulance joined ground crews and at least seven police cars at the scene on Sandgate Hill at around 9am.

Tragically, the man was declared dead at the scene.

The road remained closed for several hours while officers conducted an investigation into the incident.

Flowers have been left near the place that the incident happened, near the Old School Mews.

Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are still ongoing.

Investigating officers are appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened, or who saw the man beforehand, to come forward.

Officers would also like to obtain any dashcam footage or privately held CCTV relating to the incident.
