A KENT youth football club's officials have been presented with an award for excellence by the FA.

In July, Faversham Strike Force - which boasts more than 250 players in 10 age groups from under-seven to under-16 - was crowned National Charter Club of the Year for the standard of their coaching, administration and child protection.

Manager Gary Axford and club welfare officer Lee Suter were presented with the award at a special ceremony at The Castle Hotel, Windsor, before travelling to Wembley Stadium.

After a champagne reception, National Development Club and Coaches Manager, Les Howie praised the club for their efforts and commitment to grassroots football.

Axford and Suter collected a trophy and a cheque for £300 to invest in the club.

They then watched the England v Estonia Euro 2008 qualifying game before Axford met the FA’s Head of Football Development, Trevor Brooking, on the pitch at half-time.
