Fire left unattended by youngsters on hills in Dover

A small unattended fire on hills in Dover was "stamped out" by firefighters last night (Thursday).

The Dover firefighters got the call at 10pm and went to the hills behind Astor College for the Arts, in Astor Avenue.

Watch manager Paul Mellett said it was quite a walk for the crew to get to, but when they reached the "small fire" it was put out in minutes.

Mr Mellett said: "It was some kids that had been having a small camp fire.

"It is not a good idea."

The children had left the area by the time the firefighters got there.
