Dogs and their owners walk to raised money for Frandham Kennels in River and Rhodes Minnis Cat Sanctuary

More than £450 was raised to help care for abandoned pets through a charity walk.

A total 40-plus people, and almost as many dogs, took part in the annual event from Frandham Kennels in Minnis Lane, River.

They followed a circular route, taking in Kearsney Abbey and Russell Gardens in Dover.

The day raised £477, which will go towards looking after dogs taken in by the kennels for rehoming and cats at

Rhodes Minnis Cat Sanctuary, which also need new, loving owners.

Both charities care for abandoned, unwanted and abused former pets, all of which need veterinary treatment.

They do not receive any outside funding.

Running costs for Rhodes Minnis Cat Sanctuary are around £200,000 a year while Frandham Kennels spends around £1,000 a week, mainly on vet bills and food.
