It is thought the embers blew from the barbecue into the shed causing flames that spread to another building.

Two fire engines attended and crews extinguished the flames using hose reel jets. No casualties were reported.

A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "If you're planning a barbecue, please remember to keep fire safety in mind.

"Make sure your barbecue is in good working order and keep it well away from property, sheds and fences. Barbecues should not be left unattended when lit, always make sure it's cool before trying to move it and never put hot ashes straight into a bin."
