Disused salad factory goes up in flames

FIRE has completely destroyed a disused salad factory building in Northbourne, near Deal.

Firefighters were called out at about 10pm on Sunday night to the old Kent Salads packing factory.

Malcolm Cowie, from Deal Fire Station, said that at the height of the blaze 12 fire engines were in attendance from across east Kent.

No one was injured in the fire which has burned the 40m by 100m building to the ground. At this stage the cause is unknown.
