Travellers spotted in Swanley Park: The third sighting in just over a week including at Darenth County Park, Dartford, and Cyclopark Gravesend

Travellers have been spotted setting up camp in a public park - the third sighting in just over a week.

Caravans and quad bikes were spotted on land owned by Swanley Town Council after a similar sighting at land behind Darent Valley Hospital yesterday.

The council has tweeted to say the park has been closed due to "unforeseen circumstances".

It comes after Kent Online revealed Kent County Council launched legal proceedings against travellers after setting up an illegal camp near the Cyclopark in Gravesend.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police received reporters of travellers entering land off New Barn Road, Swanley yesterday at around 8.40pm.

"The encampment is on council-owned land so they will manage the process of serving eviction papers. Officers will provide appropriate support during this process."
