Crash on M25 near Dartford Crossing causes traffic delays with four-mile queues

Two people were injured in a crash involving a lorry and a car near the Dartford Crossing this morning.

The accident happened on the M25 by the tunnel at about 10.15am.

It caused severe delays in the area, with traffic queueing for six miles at one point.

Two lanes were closed due to recovery work between J1A A206, Dartford, and J31 A1306, Lakeside.

There was also congestion after J3 on the M20 by Swanley Interchange.

National Highways has since confirmed that recovery is complete and the west tunnel has reopened.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "It has been reported two people have sustained injuries to their backs.
