Air ambulance called to Bartholomew Way, Swanley following crash involving van and pedestrian

A major road has been closed following a serious crash involving a van and pedestrian.

Bartholomew Way in Swanley is currently blocked in both directions due to the incident near the Asda supermarket.

Police, paramedics and an air ambulance were all called to the scene shortly after 9am.

A spokesman for Kent Police said: “Patrols are currently at the scene of a serious collision involving a van and a pedestrian in Bartholomew Way, Swanley.

“Bartholomew Way is closed between Sycamore Drive and Swanley Lane while inquiries are completed into the circumstances.

“Motorists should consider using alternative routes.”

A statement from Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance Service (KSS) added: “A helicopter was dispatched to Swanley on January 16.

“We’re unable to comment further comment on this incident.”

Bus passengers using the Transport for London (TFL) 233 service are being diverted.

Reacting online, one person at the scene said: "I hope the woman will be fine. My heart sunk when I saw her."

Another added: "The ambulance and police arrived on scene pretty fast, so I'm hoping she will be alright [as] the air ambulance landed."
