Dartford Crossing closed again after collision involving a lorry and a van

A major accident saw part of the Dartford Crossing closed again just 15 hours after it reopened

There were long delays on the QEII Bridge due to an incident involving a lorry and a van on the M25 clockwise on the Essex side.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Our officers were called to a two vehicle collision on the A282 just before the QEII bridge at around 9.10am today.

"The road was closed for a short time to allow emergency teams to work.

"One person was taken to hospital with serious injuries. These are not believed to be life-threatening.

"The road is now fully reopened."

At the time congestion was building for two miles before J30 A13, Lakeside, and there are A13 queues back to Grays.

The bridge only reopened yesterday evening after Just Stop Oil protesters were arrested last night.

Two of the four lanes remained closed while emergency services were at the scene of the collision.

A Kent Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "Crews were called to assist Essex County Fire and Rescue Service at Dartford River Crossing at 9.21am today following reports of a crash.

"One fire engine was sent to the scene, however, no action was required."

Witnesses have reported that lorries sandwiched the van.
