Runners ignore torrential rain to take part in Ashford's Givaudan 10K run

It was a case of wet, wet, wet more than sweat, sweat, sweat for runners taking part in the Givaudan 10k race around Ashford on Sunday morning.

The hundreds of runners taking part were soaked even before the starting hooter went off.

But they braved a chilly soaking to complete the 27th annual run that started and finished at the Julie Rose Stadium in Willesborough.

The race is sponsored by Givaudan and saw the field following a route through Kennington and round the town centre before finishing back at the stadium.

There were also fun runs on the stadium's athletics track for under-10s and under-15s.

Ashford Mayor Cllr David Smith got a soaking as he gamely handed out medals to the race winners and finishers.
