The Fighting Cocks, Horton Kirby, Dartford

Don't let the disconcertingly violent name fool you - this village tavern bears what can easily be described as the quintessential traditional English beer garden.

A large grassy space plentifully speckled with benches sits alongside the picturesque 18th century converted farmhouse - acclaimed for its family atmosphere and the quality of its food.

Youngsters are bound to be buzzing when they see the large and varied play area set out within viewing distance from the benches.

Visitors are also able to beat the inevitable queues now temperatures are hotting up thanks to the pub adopting a new phone app which allows them to order their drinks without having leave their seat - as the app pings over a message when your order is ready.
