Dartford man arrested following armed robbery in Swanley

Police have arrested a man on suspicion of carrying out an armed robbery at a shop in Swanley.

A man with a gun is said to have threatened a newsagent in Heathwood Parade, London Road, yesterday evening.

A police spokesman said: "The person pointed a weapon at a member of staff.

"The suspect is alleged to have made demands for cash before assaulting the victim.

"An altercation then took place before the suspect is said to have fled from the scene."

The attack happened at 7.30pm.

Police and medics from South East Coast Ambulance Service attended and the victim was taken to hospital with injuries to his face and head.

What is believed to be an air gun was found by officers at the scene.

A 20-year-old man from Dartford was arrested at 9.40am this morning on suspicion of robbery.

He has since been released pending further investigation.
