Sam Denly has hinted he might make more signings before Herne Bay open their new Ryman League, Division 1 South season against new-boys Guernsey on Saturday week.

The new Winch’s Field boss is talking to Danny Walder, who played in the 0-0 draw at Chatham Town on Tuesday night, and another un-named player involved in pre-season.

Walder featured in central midfield but played full-back at Tonbridge before being released at the end of last season. He has also been training with Maidstone.

Bay boss Denly said: “There could be a few more to come in and I am looking to work with a squad of 18/19. We have a lot of games early on and they will come thick and fast once the season starts.”

Bay travel to Kent Invicta League Lewisham Borough on Sunday (2.30pm) but will be without defender Joe Kane who is out for six weeks with an ankle injury.

Newcomer Jamie O’Connell is recovering from a knee operation.
