Captain Key awaits late fitness tests

Rob Key: big task ahead
Rob Key: big task ahead

KENT'S new cricket skipper Rob Key will await the result of two, possibly three, 11th hour fitness tests before naming his championship side to take on Durham in Canterbury today.

Key has three niggling problems in his pace attack with Simon Cook (shoulder), Martin Saggers (heal) and Robbie Joseph (sidestrain) all carrying slight knocks.

With his two overseas players Andrew Hall and Justin Kemp still unavailable, Key will give himself as much time as possible before settling on the 11 to take on newly promoted Durham, who are without England players Paul Collingwood and Steve Harmison.

Kent's probable squad: Fulton, Key, Van Jaarsveld, Dexter, Stevens, Walker, O'Brien, Patel, Khan, Joseph, Cook, Saggers.
