Taxi driver urinates in street in Canterbury

A taxi driver caught short at the wheel is under investigation after he was filmed relieving himself in the middle of the road.

The cabbie was spotted unzipping his trousers in St Stephen’s Road, Canterbury, in the early hours of a Saturday morning.

He then urinated in the street, on the driver’s side of the car, before getting back into the cab and driving off as another vehicle approached.

Shocked onlooker Nigel Black captured the desperate act on his dashboard camera.

“I saw the car door open and he got up to stand outside,” he said.

“I could then hear water hitting the tarmac and saw him relieving himself onto the road.

“He was there for about 30 seconds, did what he did, and then drove off.”

Mr Black, 37, says the cabbie should have had the decency to use the toilets at Asda in Sturry Road.

“It’s not nice as it is outside people’s homes,” he said.

“I appreciate taxi drivers are in their cars for a long time and I appreciate that he has got to go, but from where he had stopped, it’s about a two-minute drive to Asda.

"He could have used the toilets there as it’s open for 24 hours.”

After capturing the footage, Mr Black called on the city council to take action.

Authority spokesman Rob Davies said: “We’re aware of this and our taxi licensing officers are investigating.”
