Mum wakes to bizarre sight of four loose horses running down St Martin's Hill in Canterbury

A mum woke in the early hours to the bizarre sight of four horses running down her street.

Tracy Turner thought her son had been dreaming when he told her he had spotted the animals trotting along St Martins Hill in Canterbury at 2.30am.

But when she looked out her window to check, she saw the strange spectacle for herself.

Sharing a picture of the scene on Facebook, she said: "Not every night you wake to this.

"I'm glad I was indoors sober and not walking up the hill drunk."

Speaking to KentOnline, she added: "I was woken at 2.30am by my son, shouting 'there's horses out there'.

"I thought he'd been dreaming, looked out, and there they were.

"I'm glad I was indoors sober and not walking up the hill drunk."

"They went down St Martins Hill and then returned.

"I think the owner was taking them back as a car was following them back up.

"It was just an odd thing to see as it's a fair way to where they may have come from.

"After posting the picture on Facebook, I then received a comment about them all having only three legs in the picture, which is also strange.

"They definitely had four when they went past!"

Replying to her social media post, one commenter said: "Amazing sight to see, I bet you was rubbing your eyes in disbelief!

"I wonder where they had come from, and more to the point where they were going to."

Another simply added "night-mares!", while one person joked they were "just horsing around".
