Police are hunting a hit and run driver who left a motorcyclist lying in the road with a broken ankle.

The incident happened on Canterbury Road in Herne when the rider was hit by a car pulling out of Lower Herne Road.

The vehicle was a small black or dark hatchback and did not have its lights on at the time of the collision shortly after 10pm on Monday, September 23.

The 17-year-old, who was riding a Honda CBR125, was thrown from the machine, sustaining leg injuries. He was treated by an ambulance crew at the scene and later admitted to hospital with a broken leg.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident and say the car, which drove off from the scene without stopping, may have suffered slight frontal damage.
