Suspected burglars charged after raid on restaurant in St Peter's Street, Canterbury

Police have charged a man and woman with burglary following an alleged raid on a city centre restaurant.

Officers were called to the premises in St Peter's Street shortly after midnight on Monday.

A police dog is said to have been used to track down two suspects to the Westgate Gardens after reports that a man was scene running away from the restaurant carrying a crate of beer.

Taylor Houston, 20, of Gordon Road, Canterbury, and Kayleigh Floyd, 20, of Avon Close, also in the city, are accused of entering a business in St Peter's Street on Sunday night.

Floyd is also charged with assaulting a police officer and the pair have been bailed to appear before Canterbury Magistrates on August 24.
