Police called to Dane John Garden, Canterbury after concerns for person

Emergency services were called to a city centre park after concerns for a person’s welfare.

Two police cars were spotted a the scene at Dane John Gardens in Canterbury shortly before 6pm this evening.

A picture taken from the scene shows a small crowd gathered near the officers by Canterbury city wall.

A spokesman for the force said: “Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended Dane John Gardens, Canterbury following concern for a person shortly before 5pm yesterday.

“The person was located and passed into the care of healthcare professionals.”

Last week, residents defended the historic city centre park, which has became notorious for violent crime.

A local group is determined to change that perception and “regain the trust of the city’s residents and visitors”.
