A FORMER dancer has been elected as the new Lord Mayor of Canterbury.

She was elected unopposed as the civic head at this week's annual meeting of the city council.

The new Sheriff of Canterbury is Liberal Democrat councillor, Charlotte MacCaul who lives in Thanington in Canterbury.
