JONATHAN AITKEN: served 18-month prison sentence for perjury

FORMER MP Jonathan Aitken is to address a meeting in Canterbury. From Power, To Prison, To Peace is the title of his talk at the Cathedral International Study Centre on Thursday, November 18, at 7.15pm.

The talk has been organised by the East Kent branch of the Lawyers' Christian Fellowship.

A former Fleet Street journalist, Mr Aitken became a Conservative MP in 1974 and joined the Cabinet as Chief Secretary to the Treasury in 1994.

Having committed perjury he was sentenced to an 18-month prison sentence.

After spending two years studying theology at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford, he now speaks and writes extensively on the Christian faith and is author in residence at St Matthew's Church, Westminster.
