Fire crews put out a car fire on the M2 last night.

The vehicle was totally destroyed in the blaze on the London bound carriageway between junctions six and five.

The driver called 999 after he noticed smoke coming from the bonnet and pulled onto the hard shoulder.

It was engulfed in flames by the time the engine from Faversham fire station arrived shortly after 10.20pm.

No one was hurt.
