Welling United name ex-Eastbourne Borough boss Danny Bloor as their new manager

Welling United have appointed former Eastbourne Borough boss Danny Bloor as their new manager.

Bloor succeeds Warren Feeney, who left Park View Road last week after just over a year in charge.

A number of people were interviewed, with the Wings describing Bloor as the “stand-out” candidate.

“I’m absolutely delighted,” Bloor, 53, told Welling’s website.

“I’m delighted to be here and I’m already looking forward to that first pre-season friendly.

“The thing I can emphasise is that players have to run, they have to work, they have to be proud to wear the shirt and that won’t be any different at Welling United.

“I want the people of Welling to come and get behind us.

“I can’t guarantee we’ll win every game, that’s a fact in football, but I can guarantee they will have a side that will work hard and give everything for the cause.”

Bloor spent three-and-a-half years in charge at Boro, having previously served as assistant manager, before leaving the club last week following a takeover.

He led them to National League South safety before finishes of third, sixth and eighth.

He’s also managed Worthing and Eastbourne Town and been assistant boss at Lewes.
