New Central Park cafe inspired by US sitcom Friends opens in Bexleyheath

Everyone knows Joey doesn’t share food, but hopefully the creators of Friends don’t mind sharing their classic New York coffee shop design.

Fans of the 90s US sitcom can now emulate their heroes by relaxing in a new cafe inspired by the show’s famous coffee shop, ‘Central Perk’.

The new Central Park cafe in Station Approach, Bexleyheath, is modelled on the famed Friends cafe – which often served as a meeting place for the central characters and hosted some of the show’s most famous scenes.

A poster from the Bexleyheath cafe announced the ‘grand opening’ for Monday July 3, adding: “calling all Friends enthusiasts, open 5.30am till late. Offering a range of food and drink, from delicious home cooked meals, healthy smoothies, mouthwatering milkshakes, tasty whipped ice cream, fresh sandwiches & wraps, soups and more!”

Whether they have a waiter called Gunther or a regular performances of songs like Smelly Cat by an out-of-tune singer, has yet to be confirmed.
