Window cleaners trapped as lift breaks down

Two window cleaners were stuck four to five storeys up a building when their hydraulic lift broke down.

They were trapped for an hour and had to be rescued by the fire brigade.

One man was stranded on the fifth floor parapet while the other was left helpless four storeys up on the lift platform.

The incident was at the Castle House offices building at Castle Hill Avenue, Folkestone, yesterday.

Firefighters with a turntable ladder from Ashford were called at 12.40pm and got the pair down safely.

Folkestone station watch manager Mick Dennis said: “They were both unharmed and both had kept calm while they were stuck.”
