Park goes pink for Race for Life

Ashford’s Victoria Park turned a sea of pink on Sunday when hundreds of women took part in Race for Life.

They walked and ran five kilometres, many in fancy dress.

Among them were Sainsbury’s workers Melissa and Serena James and Vicky Lockett, who were part of a group of six from the store decked out in their finest pink cowgirl hats.

Lucy and Hannah Marshall Sims brought their dog Finn along, although he did not run, being a boy.

They were taking part in memory of mum Lise, who died last year.

Lucy said: “We’ve been running it every year and this is our fourth.”

Hannah explained: “Mum was Norwegian, hence the horns!”

All the money raised will go to research into combating breast cancer.
