Firefighters tackle car blaze on A28 Great Chart bypass in Ashford

A car in Ashford has been completely destroyed by a fire.

Firefighters were called to the A28 Great Chart bypass last night following reports a Rover MG was ablaze.

On arrival, they discovered the vehicle was "100% alight".

Police were also called, and closed the road until 11.50pm.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation and officers are trying to establish who was driving the car - as they suspect the driver fled the scene.
