Scott Porter says this week is crucial for Hythe Town’s hopes of realising his season-long aim to land a place in the Ryman League, Division 1 South play-offs

Last night’s (Wednesday) trip to Herne Bay was the first of three successive Kent derbies, at home to Faversham on Saturday, followed by the short trip to neighbours Folkestone Invicta on Easter Monday.

The Reachfields boss (pictured) said: "It’s a massive week for us and three pivotal games.

"Playing so many other Kent teams in this divsion will always make it difficult to actually win it, though.

"Form goes out of the window in these matches. Everybody else tries to take points off you, with ex-players wanting to do well against their old clubs.

"We beat Folkestone at Christmas, then went on a bad run but have picked things up and have games in hand on all the teams around us as
well."

Porter failed to add to his squad this week, with the transfer deadline due to expire on Sunday.

Porter said: "I did try to bring somebody in, basically as back-up
defensively but it didn’t happen. I don’t think I will look to do anything
else."
