Police quickly recovered the discarded weapon, which was found less than a mile's walk away from the scene of the fatal stabbing of Jaydon McFarlane on Saturday.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "We were called shortly after 9am after a member of the public found a knife in Victoria Park, Ashford.

"Officers attended and recovered the knife for examination and a further search was carried out of the area."
